COALS Interdisciplinary Inquiry-based Learning Community (IILC)

The IILC will hold a series of five workshops during the Fall 2007 semester to define and explore interdisciplinary issues in Agriculture. These subjects will be the basis for independent/group study and research for undergraduate students at Texas A&M.

Students and Faculty in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences who are interested in interdisciplinary undergraduate research are invited and encouraged to attend the workshop series.

To kick off the COALS college-wide research effort, there is a Symposium on Inquiry/Research-based Education. Information about the symposium and registration instructions may be found at http://qep.tamu.edu.

  • October 23, 2007 Virtual Collaboration Tools - Dr. Bill Neill (WFSC) gives a demonstration of "EcoFish", followed by a discussion of Database Cataloging Logistics
  • November 6, 2007 Honors and Undergrad Research
  • November 20, 2007 Funding Research

Reservations for each workshop will be open until the Friday prior to each session. To register, send your name and workshop choice to sarnold@aged.tamu.edu

All sessions will be held at the College Station Conference Center at 1300 George Bush Drive from 11:10 until 12:25 pm.

Lunch from local eateries will be served at all workshops.

Students who attend the Symposium and IILC workshops will be eligible to be chosen to receive a travel grant to attend professional meetings in Spring 2008.
